Gallen returns as regional scout

10 August 2015

The Dons have appointed former striker Kevin Gallen as a regional scout.

Gallen made 39 appearances during an 18-month spell at stadiummk, helping the side win the League 2 title and lift the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy during the 2007/08 season.

In this new role, the 39-year-old will scout opponents and potential transfer targets in the south of the country. He will report to Head of Recruitment Bobby Winkelman as well as work closely with Karl Robinson and the management team.

Speaking to mkdons.com: "I’m delighted to be back. It was really sad news about Andy King, who I knew well. The Club needed someone to come in and do match and player reports. I’ll also watch training and be around the first-team.

"It’s been a long time since I was here last. I signed here in 2007, the first season here at this new stadium. Now they’ve finished the top tier and it looks magnificent so it’s really exciting times."

Karl Robinson told mkdons.com: "Kevin has come on board and that was a big one for us. I wanted to bring people back who have played a part in the Club's history and he follows Keith Andrews, who will arguably go down as the Club's best ever player.

"He also had a fantastic rapport with the fans, just like Kevin did. He was part of a very memorable year for the Football Club and he will be fondly remembered for the goal he scored against Peterborough. These two are back and that's what growth of a Football Club is.

"They've both had a big role to play and hopefully they can come back and do that once again. No-one will ever replace Kingy but we are doing our best."

An interview with Kevin will be available to view on PlayerHD later today.
