Gallagher glee at Dons move

4 August 2015

Sam Gallagher says it was an easy decision to spend the 2015/16 campaign on loan with the Dons.

Karl Robinson fought off competition from a host of clubs to secure the signature of the 19-year-old, who moves from Premier League outfit Southampton.

“It’s unbelievable to be here,” Gallagher told MK Dons PlayerHD. “I’ve been made to feel very welcome and Karl and all the staff have given off a real family feel which is good. To feel wanted by a manager like Karl and to be at a Club like this gives me a big boost.

“I spoke a lot to Karl and to other people about the Club and from what they all said, it gave off a similar to Southampton when they were at this point and so it was a no brainer for me to come here.”

Gallagher is one of three players in the current Dons squad to have played for Southampton, along with Ben Reeves and fellow summer signing Cody Cropper.

“Cody couldn’t say enough good things about the Club. He seems to have settled in alright already so I’m sure if they can accept him, I should be alright!”

Gallagher has made 19 top flight appearances for the St. Mary’s outfit and during the 2013/14 campaign he netted his first Premier League goal in a 4-2 victory over Norwich City.

Now, though, the England Under-19 international is looking to get on the scoresheet on a regular basis for the men from MK1, and help them compete during their first season in the Sky Bet Championship.

“Getting games is what this loan is about for me and hopefully I can score some goals in this amazing stadium as well. I’ll be looking to run a few defences around and give a bit when I need to.”

He continued: It’s going to be such an exciting season, especially for MK Dons coming up. You can feel that around the club – everyone is itching to get going. The games come thick and fast in August and September so it will be a good time.”

Watch Gallagher and the Dons in action this Saturday when they take on Rotherham United in their Sky Bet Championship opener - tickets are priced at £23 adults, £13 over-65s, £8 for under-18s and £6 for under-12s.
