Duo set for Dons reunion

27 November 2015

The Dons will go up against two former players on Saturday when they visit Wolverhampton Wanderers – Benik Afobe and Seyi Ojo.

Striker Afobe spent the first half of last season on loan at stadiummk, scoring a highly-impressive 19 goals in 30 games including a stunning brace in the 4-0 victory over Manchester United.

The 22-year-old also netted his first career hat-trick in a 6-1 triumph at home to Colchester United and although his loan deal was cut short to allow for his permanent move to Wolves, his goals did prove crucial in the Dons’ promotion success.

“Benik was sensational for us,” his former manager Karl Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “He scored 19 goals before the transfer window and around this time now he’d scored 16 – that’s a tremendous return, regardless of the level.

“He is a top striker and I think if we would have kept hold of Benik, we would have won League 1 last season.”

“I was delighted to see MK Dons get promoted last season, and it will be nice to see the fans again because I have not been there for a while.”

“A lot have come through the ranks and progressed, and that shows what a good place MK Dons is to play and is a credit to all the staff who help players blossom in their careers.

“I’ve got a few memories from MK Dons of playing in the youth ranks. I know Karl Robinson and it will be good to see him again.

: “I’m looking forward to the game. Wolves’ official website Ojo, who is currently on loan at Molineux from the Reds, told

The teenager joined the Club’s Academy in 2007 and was playing with the Under-18s at the age of 13. He began training with the senior squad before moving to Liverpool for an undisclosed fee at the age of just 14.

Although Ojo never made the impact on the first-team like Afobe, stadiummk was where the promising youngster began his career.
