Duo enjoy international delight

16 October 2014

Ben Reeves and Dele Alli both helped their countries to important victories this past week.

Reeves made his international debut as Northern Ireland pulled off a fantastic 2-0 win over Greece, to maintain their 100% percent start to the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

The 22-year-old midfielder, an unused substitute in Northern Ireland’s victory over the Faroe Islands on Saturday, replaced Shane Ferguson in the 78th minute and helped his side see out the success.

Striker Will Grigg, the third Dons player to have been involved in the international week, was an unused substitute in the win which sees Northern Ireland top Group F on nine points.

Meanwhile, youngster Dele Alli has been in Luxembourg helping England Under-19s move another step towards the 2016 European Championship in Greece.

Alli added two more caps to his name as the Young Lions comfortably made it through their First Qualifying Round group and secured their place in the Elite Qualifying Round draw, which takes place in Nyon on 3rd December.

The 18-year-old started and played 73 minutes in the 3-0 victory over Belarus last Friday, before being rested for the 8-0 thrashing of the hosts, Luxembourg, on Sunday.

Alli then returned to the starting line-up on Wednesday as England made it three wins from three with a 4-2 success against Belgium. Alli played 82 minutes before being replaced by Chelsea’s Charlie Colkett.

Reeves, Grigg and Alli will now return to stadiummk ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leyton Orient.
