Josh Murphy described the Capital One Cup victory over Cardiff City as the ‘perfect debut’.
“It was the perfect debut for me,” Murphy told MK Dons PlayerHD. “Getting an assist and a goal but also win the match after going a goal down - it was a brilliant!
“I was buzzing to be involved in the squad (at Reading) on Saturday because I didn’t think I’d be included so quickly.Watching the boys showed me I’m coming into a good team so I know I’ve got to work hard and take my chance when it comes – hopefully I’ve done that!
“I thought I’d missed (my chance) because it hit the post! I’ll take any goal but I’m really just glad the boys stuck in there and got the win.”
Murphy joined the Dons on a season-long loan from Norwich City last week and the 20-year-old is looking forward to spending the 2015/16 campaign in Milton Keynes.
“I first heard about (the move) a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I knew there was proper interest, it was a no brainer for me. Karl is a great manager and this is a good club so there was no question in my mind about coming here.
“I need to play week in, week out and with MK Dons, hopefully, I can do that.”
Although Tuesday’s Capital One Cup tie was Murphy’s opening game for the Dons, it wasn’t the first time he’d played at stadiummk, as the winger recalls: “I played here when I was about 16.
“It was the first time I was involved with Norwich’s first team so coming back here brought back some good memories of where it all started for me - I was buzzing to get out on the pitch.”
