Daniel Powell says it’s a ‘dream come true’ to finally achieve the Club's goal of reaching the Sky Bet Championship.
The Academy graduate, who was one of seven players in the promotion-winning squad to have progressed through the Dons’ youth set-up, netted 10 times in 49 games during 2014/15 to help the men from MK1 to their second-place finish in League 1.
“I’ve been here over 10 years now and this has been the aim ever since I signed here,” Powell told MK Dons Player. “To finally achieve it, is a dream come true.
“This season will have to go down in history. We’ve scored 101 league goals which has to be up there for a record. It’s a great achievement for everybody and it was nice to be able to contribute as well.”
One benefit of automatic promotion is the Dons avoid the dreaded play-offs, which haven’t proved to kind to the side in the past.
“Knowing how much of a heartache the play-offs can be its nice knowing that we’ve done it,” Powell added. “It’s a relief.”
