The Dons have signed Manchester City’s highly-rated forward Devante Cole on loan until the end of the season.
Cole completed the move to stadiummk on Thursday and he could make his debut on the weekend against Barnsley, whom he scored seven goals for, in just 17 starts, earlier in the campaign.
The 19-year-old, who can operate in both the striker and left wing position, will add an exciting dimension to Karl Robinson’s already fierce attack and is eligible to feature in the play-offs if required. He will wear the number 28 shirt.
Speaking to mkdons.com, Karl Robinson said: “Devante is a player I’ve wanted to bring to the Football Club for a long time. He’s an exciting youngster who can play either on the wing or up-front, he’s quick and he knows how to score goals.
“He’s held in high regard by Manchester City and the FA, having represented England at all levels from Under-16s to Under-19s, and I can’t wait to work with him for the remainder of the season.”
Son of former Manchester United and Newcastle United striker Andrew Cole, Devante joined City at the age of seven and has advanced all the way up to the Elite Development Squad at the Etihad Stadium.
Cole was selected by Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini for the first-team’s pre-season tour of South Africa in July 2013 and made his debut for them that summer in a friendly against SuperSport United.
After scoring 16 goals in 32 games for Patrick Vieira’s Development squad in the 2013/14 season, including six in the UEFA Youth League, Cole joined League 1 side Barnsley on loan – his first spell away from Manchester.
The 6ft 1in frontman made his professional debut away at Coventry City in August and scored his first senior goal a week later at Oakwell against Gillingham.
Scoring a further six times during his time in Yorkshire – one of which came against the Dons in Karl Robinson’s side’s 5-3 victory – Cole returned to City in January before making his move to MK1.
