Dons capture Clarke-Harris

16 January 2015

The Dons have signed Rotherham United frontman Jonson Clarke-Harris on a youth loan.

Karl Robinson has moved quickly to strengthen his striking department with the signature of the 20-year-old on a deal up to and including the trip to Gillingham on Saturday 14th February.

Clarke-Harris, the Millers’ record signing, has netted 14 goals in just 37 professional starts – three of which have come this season in the Championship.

He will wear the number 23 shirt and could make his debut in Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United at stadiummk.

Karl Robinson told mkdons.com: “He’s an exciting young player who is quick, powerful and knows where the back of the net is – his record backs that up.

“He is willing to work hard and will bring another dimension to our attacking options.”

Clarke-Harris started his career as a trainee at Coventry City, where he became the Club’s youngest ever player aged just 16 years 21 days, before spells at Peterborough, Southend United and Bury, the latter for which he scored four goals in four starts.

That promise prompted Oldham Athletic to move for the forward, who repaid the Latics by hitting the target nine times in 36 appearances, still at the age of just 19.

Recognising his talent, Rotherham smashed their transfer record to bring Clarke-Harris to the New York Stadium last summer, with the hot prospect finding the net three times in just five league starts including a stunning winner in the 2-1 success over Leeds United.

An interview with the new recruit is coming up on MK Dons Player.
