Disability side win the FA Cup!

19 May 2016

MK Dons Sport and Education Trust’s Pan Disability first team has won the South East Disability FA Cup.

The Dons ran out 3-2 victors in a thrilling final with holders Reading to bring home the trophy for the first time.

The early part of the game was fairly even but the Dons' style of possession play frustrated Reading, who play a far more direct style of football.

With the Dons team pressing when not in possession and retaining the ball when in possession, gaps started to appear in the Reading formation which allowed the Dons players to get into dangerous positions.

Troy Perry took advantage of one such opportunity with a strike from the edge of the Reading penalty area - the ball finishing in the net beyond the stranded Reading goalkeeper.

The Dons went on to score two further goals, giving them a comfortable 3-0 lead going into the last five minutes.

Reading pulled a goal back and a misunderstanding in the Dons defence allowed Reading to steal another goal, giving Dons manager Danny Hayter a nervous last couple of minutes, however, they held on for a fantastic triumph.

Congratulations to everyone involved!
