Danny relishing return

5 November 2014

Danny Green has his eyes set on a return to competitive action, after making his comeback from injury on Monday evening.

Green played 62 minutes in the Final Third Development League Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon, his first appearance in a Dons shirt since the Capital One Cup victory over Manchester United back on 26th August.

“It was enjoyable being back out there,” Green told MK Dons Player. “It was nice to get out there, have a run around and get 60 minutes under my belt.

“I felt alright, a little bit rusty here and there and some of my set plays were good and others were a bit ropey. It was just about getting back to full fitness and getting my touch right.”

Green has been sidelined for a total of eight weeks due to the troublesome injury, and has made just four appearances since signing for the Club on a permanent basis in the summer.

“It’s horrible not being able to play, especially when you see how well the lads are doing - you just want to be out there. I thought I started the season quite well too, so I was really disappointed I got injured.

“I just want to thank all the medical staff and everybody who helped me, because there were times when we weren’t really sure how to fix it. They have done really well and helped me out massively, and I was just buzzing to be back out there.

“I just want to get back to the training pitch, get my sharpness and my touch back, and then fingers crossed I’ll be out there soon.”

Finally, Green was also keen to reserve a mention for the Dons supporters, for their kind messages sent to him on social media during his lay-off.

He added: “I’ve had some really nice things said to me on Twitter and it’s been a massive help. I just want to thank them because it really means a lot.”
