Chaddy's on his way to Wembley!

6 May 2014

Luke Chadwick will be going to Wembley with Cambridge United after they secured their place in the Skrill Premier play-off final on Sunday.

The U’s, who lost the first leg to FC Halifax Town last Wednesday, beat the Shaymen 2-0 this past weekend to book their spot at the showpiece event, which takes place on Sunday 18th May.

Dons playmaker Chadwick was an unused substitute for Richard Money’s side, whose two goals came courtesy of Delano Sam-Yorke. The man on loan from Lincoln City netted two composed finishes, the first coming after just 11 minutes.

Cambridge will play Gateshead in the Final after they overcame Grimsby 4-2 on aggregate.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin helped Newport County end their campaign with a win over already-promoted Rochdale.

The 22-year-old and County prevented The Dale from winning the Sky Bet League 2 title after coming from behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Aaron O’Connor and Kevin Feely.

McLoughlin finishes his spell at Rodney Parade having kept three clean-sheets in 12 appearances.
