Antony Kay has signed a new deal to remain with the Dons.
The defender has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract which will tie him to the Club until at least June 2016 and extend his stay at stadiummk into a fourth season.
Kay played an important role in the Dons’ 2014/15 promotion-winning campaign, featuring in all-but one of their 46 league fixtures.
This deal ensures the Dons’ backline, which helped to keep a club-record 24 clean-sheets last season, will remain intact for the men from MK1’s inaugural Championship campaign.
Speaking to mkdons.com, Kay said: “I’m very happy to sign. This season coming will be my fourth here, which is the second-longest spell I’ve ever had with a club – I’m really enjoying my time here.
“The Chairman and the Gaffer knew that I wanted to stop here and thankfully they wanted to keep me too, so it was good for both parties.”
He continued: “Last season was very special, getting promoted in the way that we did, and I’m excited to get started again. I enjoyed the celebrations but the hard work starts now – I’ll be ready and raring to go when we’re back in for pre-season.”
Kay, who began his career with hometown club Barnsley and had spells with Tranmere Rovers and Huddersfield Town, joined the Dons in summer 2012 and instantly established himself as a first-choice centre back for boss Karl Robinson.
The 32-year-old has since gone on to feature 125 times for the men from MK1, which ranks him fifth in appearances amongst the current squad of outfield players – only Dean Lewington, Darren Potter, Daniel Powell and Dean Bowditch have more.
