Bowds: Our season in one game

4 May 2016

Dean Bowditch says Saturday’s defeat at his former club Ipswich Town summed up the Dons’ campaign.

Bowditch & co matched their opponents for large periods at Portman Road but they were made to pay by a ruthless Tractor Boys side, with the winning goal coming in the final minutes.

“A fair result in the end would have been a 2-2 draw – it would have been nice to get something out of the game.”

“If you make mistakes at this level, you often get punished and we’ve not got away with it again. It’s disappointing but we’ll use it as a learning tool because that’s the only thing we can do.

“We coped with them very well and we were a threat but, again, it’s just those little errors in decision-making that’s cost us.

. “We played some good football at times and scored a couple of nice goals. he told MK Dons PlayerHD“Those ninety minutes summed up the last nine months,”

“While it’s great to come back, we lost the game and it’s hard to be happy after that. Hopefully next time I come here, it’ll be a bit different.”

“For me personally, it’s the first time I’ve been back to Portman Road. It was nice to see some old faces and I could a nice reception from the fans when I came off.

The game saw the 29-year-old return to the club where he started his career – a place he has fond memories of.

“As they stay, you’ve got to stick with us through the good times and the bad times and they have definitely done that – we can’t thank them enough."

Bowditch saved a special mention for the fans: “The fans have been absolutely tremendous this year. We knew it was going to be tough, but they knew it was tough as well.
