Dean Bowditch comes up against one of his former sides on Sunday but the Dons’ number nine is only focused on bagging what could turn out to be a promotion-clinching three points.
The men from MK1 face Yeovil Town at stadiummk knowing that they will secure a place in the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in the Club’s history if they better Preston North End’s result.
“I’ve never been involved in a situation like this before,” the winger told mkdons.com. “It’s going to be a strange occasion for me but I’m looking forward to it.
“For me personally, I always love playing against one of my old clubs and I had an especially fond time at Yeovil. They helped kick-start my career because I was out of contract when I went there and they gave me a chance to shine – I can’t thank them enough for that.”
Since relegation from League 1 was confirmed earlier this month, the Glovers have enjoyed an up-turn in form, and in recent weeks they have beaten the likes of Swindon Town and Sheffield United.
“They’ve always been a hard-working team that will look to make it physical and grind you down,” Bowditch added. “They’ll make it difficult but we’re playing fantastically well at the moment and we’re going up against everyone believing we can win - it won’t be any different on Sunday.”
While the Dons players look to take care of matters on the pitch at stadiummk, supporters in the stands will, no doubt, be keeping track of developments at the Weston Homes Community Stadium where Preston face Colchester United.
Karl Robinson’s men are in need of a result in the U’s favour to have a chance of clinching automatic promotion into the second tier of English football and Bowditch admits it will be hard to not stay in tune with what’s going on in Essex.
“Everyone deals with it differently - some players will want to know the result because that will drive them on, whereas others will want to leave it. It will be difficult with all the fans in the stadium, shouting at you and telling you the score.”
