Dean Bowditch believes the Dons have turned a corner with their recent results, but insists they mustn’t get too carried away.
The men from MK1 responded from three straight defeats to take seven points from a possible nine, including a 4-1 victory over Notts County in front of almost 12,000 fans at stadiummk this past weekend.
“It seems we’ve turned that corner and we’ve upped it again,” the winger told MK Dons Player after that win over County. “It’s been good and hopefully we can continue that for the rest of the season.
“We can’t lose sight of the teams above us but we just need to keep focusing on ourselves. We know that we can’t start working out how many points we need to get or looking out for other team’s results - I think you can see we’re doing right with our recent performances.”
Bowditch continued: “(Saturday) was a fantastic result and you could see the lads had taken confidence we’d gotten from the last two games and brought it back home. We won well in the end and we showed great character (at 2-1) to kick on and it could have been five or six.”
The 28-year-old contributed to the scoreline on Saturday, just as he has done in each of his last three outings - he provided an assist for Will Grigg to score against his former side Walsall before teeing up the same man to score the Dons’ third against County. He also found the back of the net himself in the 3-1 victory away at Oldham Athletic.
“I’ve been working really hard on that side of my game. I was able to put one on a plate for Griggy (on Saturday) but then I was also getting into some great positions to get a goal for myself and that is pleasing for me.”
Bowditch started both the Walsall and Oldham clashes but was forced off during the latter due to tightness in his groin, which is why he was limited to a substitute appearance against the Magpies.
However, the former Ipswich Town trainee was keen to assure supporters that all is well and his rest was no more than a precautionary measure.
“My groin is fine," he confirmed. "(Coming off at Oldham) was precautionary and my call, more than anything. It’s a problem i’ve suffered with before and when I started to feel it a little bit, I knew I had to come off and just rest it up a little bit.
"I couldn’t feel out there at all (against Notts County) so it seems I did the right thing.”
