Boss buoyed by Boro display

Karl Robinson believes the fact he and his side are disappointed not to have beaten on Middlesbrough shows how well they performed against the league leaders.

The Dons, thanks to Dean Bowditch’s fourth goal of the campaign, led the promotion-chasers from the ninth minute of Tuesday’s clash at stadiummk right up until stoppage time when the visitors struck late to take a share of the spoils back to Teesside.

“It says a lot when a side like us can be disappointed when a £9 million striker gets a deflected equaliser,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “We are team down the bottom but we are fighting against a team who has just gone top.

“In the first half we looked a little bit edgy – maybe we scored a little too early against one of the best teams in the league. We knew we’d have to ride our luck and in the second half they had two guilt-edged chances, but so did we.

“I am so disappointed because the players deserved more than what they’ve got.”

He continued: “We need to take so many positives away from this. There’s a lot of belief in the group and we’ve seen that (in this game). We knew how hard this week was going to be and up until now we’ve come through it with a couple of points, which is a positive."
