Baldock and U's beat Carlisle

30 March 2015

George Baldock helped Oxford United to a 2-1 victory on Saturday in his ninth appearance for the U’s.

The right-back played the full 90 minutes as Michael Appleton’s side beat Carlisle United at the Kassam Stadium to move eight points clear of the Sky Bet League 2 relegation zone with seven games remaining.

Baldock, who has scored one goal since joining Oxford, had a left-footed effort saved by Cumbrians keeper Dan Hanford with the scores at 1-1. The U’s would later win the match courtesy of Kyle Vassell’s first goal for the club on 80 minutes.

Elsewhere, Harry Hickford returned to the Chelmsford City starting XI after serving a three-game suspension.

The defender slotted in at right-back and played the entire game as the Clarets lost 1-0 to Havant & Waterlooville – a result which has them now 10 points adrift of the Vanarama Conference South play-off places.

Kabongo Tshimanga, also on loan at the Melbourne Stadium, was an unused substitute.

Tshimanga’s fellow forward Giorgio Rasulo, who joined Aldershot Town on loan last Thursday, didn’t feature on the weekend as the Shots were without a fixture.

The England youth international will hope to make his debut for the Vanarama Conference side when they travel to Forest Green Rovers on Good Friday.
