Benik Afobe has sets his sights on being more ruthless in front of goal despite scoring his second goal of the season in the 1-0 win over Chesterfield.
“I’m very disappointed not to come away with the match ball,” he said.
“The boys have set me up pretty well and I’ve got myself into some fantastic positions, but if we had played that game in a month or so I think I would have got a hat-trick.
“There’s still a bit of that pre-season feeling with some of the finishing but in a couple of months’ time I definitely would have scored a hat-trick in this game.”
He added: “I’m delighted with the win and as a striker you always want to score goals.
“When I picked the ball up I looked square to pass it but I heard the manager say to run with it, so I thought ‘Why not?’ It was 0-0 and I’ve got them on the ropes so I turned one, turned the other and I hit it quite well so I’m happy with that.”
