Whirlwind start for starlet Brandon

28 September 2016

Brandon Thomas-Asante has enjoyed a whirlwind few months but MK Dons’ newest professional is keeping his feet on the ground.

After impressing during pre-season, 17-year-old Thomas Asante made his senior debut in the Dons’ opening-day victory over Shrewsbury Town and has since gone on to make a further four appearances for the first-team.

Then, to cap off a superb start to the campaign, the forward was awarded his first professional contract which will keep him at Stadium MK until at least June 2018.

“It’s been a really good time for me,” Thomas-Asante told REDDOT. “With the great opportunities that come at this Club, you have to really grab hold of them and make the most of them when they come along – I have really been able to benefit from it.

“I want to push to get into the squad as much as possible this season. I want to score goals with the first team too and I want to learn and excel every day.”

“Their support is massive for me,” Thomas-Asante added. “I can’t wait to make them proud, put on performances for them and give them goals – I’ve got a lot to give them and I want to show them what I’m capable of.”

When Thomas-Asante does appear for the first-team, he’s sure to receive a warm reception from the Dons supporters, who have taken to the attacker since his first appearance back in August.

“I just need to keep working hard and with the opportunities available at this Club it is possible for me but I need to make sure I take those opportunities when they come along.”

“What I’ve being trying to realise is there is always another step. There’s always another level you can get to. There are so many good players in my position in this team that it’s going to be hard for me.

“I spoke to the gaffer and Richie last week and they told me that whatever level I’m playing at, I need to make sure I’m putting in the same amount of effort into each game - as much as playing with the first-team is a great opportunity, every time you play football it’s a chance to do well, impress and learn.

Thomas-Asante figures to be involved in the first-team for much of the 2016/17 campaign but the talented youngster will still work with the Under-21s and, on occasions, the Under-18s this season - he views every game as a chance to impress.
