Saturday’s treble was Ryan Colclough’s first in professional football – much to the delight of the man on loan from Wigan Athletic.
Colclough opened the scoring for MK Dons in their 4-1 victory over Fleetwood Town before bagging two in the second half to complete his treble.
“It was a great feeling,” Colclough told MK Dons PlayerHD. “It’s something you dream of – it’s a great moment for me.
“I’ve come here to score goals, help the team out and play well. I’ve also got my first hat-trick so I’m really happy.”
He continued: “(The ball) will go in my room or the living room, with tops that I’ve got. It’s going to hold a special place in the house.”

“There were nerves but in football it’s about how you deal with them. I always do the same things when I go to take a penalty and I did it again and it worked.”
“Nicky’s after his 100th goal but he’s going to score plenty of goals this season. This would be my first-ever hat-trick and I was happy that he gave me the penalty.
Colclough was presented with a chance to complete his first hat-trick in the 90th minute when George Baldock was fouled in the penalty area. Nicky Maynard, in search of his 100th career goal, was also in contention to take the spot-kick but the striker allowed Colclough the honours from the spot.
“I’ve just smashed hard and low past the keeper, who I don’t think expected it – it was a great way to get my second goal.”
“I’ve got to give credit to Dave because it was a great ball. It had to be inch-perfect and it was. It came through to me, I’ve slowed it down and then scooped it past my man.
Dean Bowditch doubled the Dons’ lead with a penalty late in the first half before Colclough extended the advantage to three on 68 minutes.
“Call it what you like but at the end of the day it’s gone in, that’s what matters.”
He said afterwards: “I’m running at my man. I’m either coming inside or getting down the line and if I’m coming inside I’m looking to whip it across the box, aiming for it to go in the far post if no one gets a touch on it.
Colclough’s first goal arrived nine minutes in and it resulted in much debate around the terraces as to whether the wide-man meant it as a shot or a cross.
