Karl Robinson was encouraged by his side’s display in the 1-1 draw at league leaders Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
“We knew it was going to be one of our toughest tasks of the season before the game,” he told MK Dons PlayerHD.
“Our play, our determination and our quality was on show – we should’ve probably won it.
“It wasn’t to be but I’m proud and happy with my players’ mentality. I thought the players were excellent and we’ll keep moving forward. We need to keep believing.”
The 35-year-old reserved praise for the two at the heart of the defence – Paul Downing and Joe Walsh.
“The two centre-backs were outstanding – they kicked and headed everything. I know how good they can be – they’ve got so much growth in them at just 24.
“They will get better and better. There are new pairings all over the pitch.”
Robinson concluded with a message for the travelling supporters: “Thank you to the fans – you came and showed fantastic support to the team during a tricky time.”
