Robbie: Result was key

Posted: Mon 20 Mar 2017

Robbie Neilson says the result was paramount in Saturday’s clash with Coventry City at Stadium MK.

Neilson’s men were deserved 1-0 winners over the Sky Blues thanks to Stuart O’Keefe’s superb second-half strike.

“At this stage of the season, we need three points on the board and that’s the most important thing,” he told MK Dons PlayerHD.

Here's what else we learnt from Robbie Neilson's post-match interview...

On confidence gained...
“I felt a bit of nervousness from everyone because of where we are but today’s win is a huge lift for us, especially with results elsewhere going well for us too. Confidence has been a wee bit fragile because we haven’t got the results we wanted so today was a huge one for us.”

On O’Keefe’s match-winner...
“It was an important time to score. The first goal is important at any time in this league. The first goal proves pivotal in a lot of games and then we stayed firm to make sure we saw the game out.

On scoring from a set-piece...
“We work on set-plays but that wasn’t one we worked on at all! The corner got shanked in and then the boy slices it but Stuart ended it with a moment of real quality. We’ll be working on it next week too!”
