Ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash with rivals Peterborough United, mkdons.com looks back at some memorable victories over the Cambridgeshire outfit...

3-0, 21 Feb 2015 (Stadium MK)
En route to their first-ever promotion to the Championship, the Dons claimed an impressive 3-0 victory over Peterborough at Stadium MK with all three goals coming in the first half.

Will Grigg opened the scoring from close-range before Ben Reeves found the net twice in the space of 15 minutes – both goals coming from outside the box.

Gleeson’s red card was overturned for the second leg, but the Dons were unable to book a trip to Old Trafford after suffering a 2-0 defeat – 4-3 aggregate loss.

Posh were then reduced to 10-men when Charlie Lee was sent off but controversy struck when Gleeson was wrongly dismissed for a foul which resulted in a penalty, converted by midfielder Grant McCann.

Craig Mackail-Smith put his side in front but goals from Daniel Powell, Sam Baldock and Angelo Balanta had the Dons 3-0 ahead at the hour mark.

The Dons ensured they took a slender lead into the second leg of their League One play-off semi final after beating the Posh in a five-goal thriller, although it could have been more if not for controversial decision by referee John Moss.

McLeod grabbed a second late on to secure the win for Danny Wilson’s men, who went on to secure their League 1 status on a dramatic final day at the National Hockey Stadium against Tranmere Rovers.

Nicky Rizzo fired the Dons into the lead nine minutes in with a 20-yard strike which Posh goalkeeper Mark Tyler couldn’t keep out, with striker Izale McLeod converting from Gary Smith’s free-kick to give his side a two-goal lead at half-time.

On the penultimate day of the 2004/05 campaign, the Dons kept their survival hopes alive with a convincing 3-0 success in Cambridgeshire.
3-0, 30 Apr 2005 (ABAX Stadium)

Posh’s Aaron McClean grabbed a goal back and defender Drissa Diallo was sent off but Paul Ince’s side were still able to hold on and extend their lead at the top of League Two to five points.

After a tight first-half, Kevin Gallen struck in 57th minute with a neat finish from the edge of the area before captain Keith Andrews doubled the Dons’ lead.

MK Dons picked up a crucial away victory at the ABAX Stadium in a top-of-the-table League Two clash with Peterborough.
