Paul hopes to build on point

14 September 2016

Paul Downing hopes MK Dons can build on last weekend’s result at Bolton Wanderers and get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Downing and Co earned themselves a share of the spoils against the Sky Bet League One leaders and they’ll be looking to go one step better then they entertain Oxford United at Stadium MK this Saturday afternoon.

“It was a good point against a strong team,” Downing told MK Dons PlayerHD. “It was a good performance and we’ll look to bounce back with a win on Saturday now.

“It will make Saturday’s point better if we can get the three points, which we’ll go for, at home.”

“There is no easy game in League One and Oxford are in good form so they’ll come thinking they can win. We need to make sure we’re ready, do the basics like we did last Saturday and try to win the game.

“We’ve got grow from the point, take confidence and find consistency. We’ll keep working on the training field and make sure we’re on top of our game against Oxford.

He continued: “Me and Joe Walsh are getting to know each other now. We’ve got a good back four with a good mix of experience and youth but we need to start keeping clean sheets because that will help us win games.”

“I think generally we’ve been playing well and causing teams problems. If we continue to do that, as well as do the basics and defend well, then our talent will shine through.”

“We’ve not been good enough the last couple of games and we’ve had to take responsibility for that. Going a goal down again on Saturday was disappointing but we did show character to come back.
