Martin: Gift of Football great for MK

17 January 2017

David Martin believes the Gift of Football offer provides a fantastic opportunity for the people of Milton Keynes.

Martin, who has made 318 appearances for MK Dons and whose association with the Club stretches back to 2004, hopes the day will see a number of residents attend their first match at Stadium MK - supporters who could potentially return and become fans in the future.

“From day one, the Chairman has been big on football playing a key part in the community,” Martin said. “This is a great way for fans to experience Stadium MK, maybe for the first time.

“Hopefully those who turn out will enjoy the game and then return. It’s a chance for the Football Club to build its identity further.”

Martin was speaking at the Club’s Festival of Football event, which took place at intu Milton Keynes and was used to officially launch the initiative.

The Dons goalkeeper enjoyed his trip into the community.

“It’s always good to go out in the community and see the fans who turn up week-in, week-out and have a chat with them.

“It’s not always positive feedback but they offer another perspective, which can sometimes help. I enjoy interacting with supporters and these events provide a good way of doing that.”
