Dons bring in Premier League midfielder

20 January 2017

MK Dons have made Leicester City’s promising midfielder Harvey Barnes their second signing in as many days.

The 19-year-old has joined on loan until the end of the season from the reigning Premier League Champions. He could make his debut this weekend against Northampton Town.

Barnes is an exciting talent who made his senior debut for the Foxes this season in their UEFA Champions League group-stage fixture away at Porto.

The young professional has quick feet and an ability to create goals, which has been evident this campaign – the young professional has scored five times and provided as many assists for the Foxes’ Under-23s this season.

Barnes told MK Dons PlayerHD: “MK Dons has got a good reputation and everyone has been very welcoming – I’m happy to be here.

“It’s a big step from Under-23s football but it’s what I feel I need – I just can’t wait to get out there and start playing.

“I like to be direct, create and score goals. I always want to be in the action.”

Neilson added: “Harvey is a huge prospect at Leicester. It’s our job is to develop him and enhance his career, which will in turn enhance our team as well.

“Bobby (Winkelman) has seen a lot of him and we’ve seen a lot of him as well. He carries the ball really well from a central-midfield position and he’s another one who is really hungry and energetic.

“I’m sure he’ll excite people.”

Tickets for Saturday's clash with the Cobblers at Stadium MK are priced from £22 adults, £17 over-65s/under-21s and £7 under-18s, while under-12s go FREE with a Young Dons membership - discounts are also available for groups and members.
