Dean Lewington insists MK Dons must change their recent narrative of coming away empty-handed after good performances.
The men from MK1 proved more than a match for Sky Bet League One leaders Scunthorpe United on Saturday but despite leading at half-time they were beaten for only the second team away from home all season.
“When you’re in the lead, especially at half-time, you expect to come away with at least a point so to not do that is frustrating,” Lewington told MK Dons PlayerHD.
“It was a tight game and there wasn’t much football played – the pitch is so small it allows people to press and that makes it difficult to pass. Still, in the first half we were the better team and deserved our goal advantage.

“Scunthorpe are a side full of confidence and they are very direct in the way they play, but 95% of the game we dealt with them. One reason to be optimistic is that if they are the top standard in our division then we’re not too far away, as long as we can we can sort ourselves out.”
He continued: “It’s so disappointing to come away with nothing but there are signs there that if we can find that one or two percent, we’ll start climbing the league.”
“We did a lot of things right but we’re being punished for the little mistakes. It’s the same old story – we come away thinking we’re the better team having created a lot of chances but we’ve lost yet again.”
“Maybe (Saturday’s) result will help with that, with their being a lot of unhappy people in the changing room.”
“It’s not a case anymore of saying it will change, we need to go out and do it on the pitch. We have to be aggressive and put the sword to teams. We have to take our chances and be more ruthless.
“We’re one of the only teams in the league not to have won at home yet so Tuesday, especially the loss today, is a great chance to bounce back and try to get something.
