Richie Barker wants the Dons to feed off the positivity created following Saturday’s 2-1 success at Coventry City.
“This is a difficult place to come and they’ve got a good record here so I’m very proud of the players,” he told MK Dons PlayerHD.
“They put in place everything that we asked of them. There were a few choice words at half-time and they reacted to be fair – I thought there was only going to be one winner in the second half.”Barker
Coventry were reduced to 10 men with 15 minutes remaining when goalscorer Ben Stevenson was given his marching orders for a challenge on Dean Lewington.
The Dons made their man advantage count when Upson struck on 80 minutes, which deserves huge credit according to caretaker boss Barker.
He said: “It was an extremely brave tackle from Lewie – he knew was going to get hurt and there’s not many players that would go in for that.
“When teams go down to 10 men, it can be difficult to break them down and it can also lead to some complacency, which means you are open at the other end as well. I’m pleased with the way the players handled it.”
Going forward, Barker had a simple message: “It’s important we look up and change the mindset – hopefully this win will go some way to doing that.”
