Baldock joins elite club

30 November 2016

George Baldock has become only the third MK Dons Academy graduate to pass the century mark for Club appearances.

Baldock, who made his debut for the Dons back in January 2011, reached the 100-game milestone in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Coventry City, joining team-mate Daniel Powell and his brother Sam Baldock as the only two home-grown players to achieve such a feat.

“It’s a massive achievement for me at this Football Club and hopefully there are many more to come,” Baldock told MK Dons PlayerHD.

Caretaker boss Richie Barker has worked with Baldock for two-and-a-half years and was full of praise for the right-back.

“It’s a fantastic milestone for any player to make 100 appearances for just one club, particularly in this day and age where it’s so easy to move on.”

Baldock has enjoyed a number of memorable moments during his century of games for the Club, including scoring a stunning injury-time winner away at Swindon in April 2014 as well as achieving promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

However, there is no doubt in the 23-year-old’s as to what his favourite occasion has been so far.

“It’s got to be the Man United game,” he said without hesitation.

“Swindon away and obviously the promotion stand out but it would have to be Man United – I still can’t even describe the feeling from that night!”
