George Baldock believes MK Dons’ strong character was on full display in their 2-1 victory over Coventry City.
The men from MK1, despite taking the lead at the Ricoh Arena, looked on course to be settling for their third draw in four games until Ed Upson swept home his second goal of the game 10 minutes from time to earn the side a vital three points.
“It’s a big relief,” Baldock said afterwards. “Hopefully we can build on it now.
“I thought the first half was quite open. Too many chances, I think. Richie had his say at half-time and it jeed all the boys up.
“(There was) great character shown. The response was brilliant and I thought we were solid in the second half.”

“To have Darren Potter back was also massive, with the protection he gives to the back four. He’s such an experienced player.”
“(Ed) has been very good in recent weeks. He likes getting forward and Richie gave him the licence to go forward today. We’ve seen the quality he has when he does get into the final third.
The right-back was also full of praise for the Dons’ midfield pairing of Upson and Darren Potter – the former who bagged a match-winning brace and the latter making a return to action after an injury lay-off.
“Those are the sorts of characteristics you need when you’re down the bottom of the league.”

As well as in the comeback, Baldock felt the Dons’ commitment and desire was also epitomised in when Dean Lewington bravely challenged for a ball with midfielder Ben Stevenson, who was dismissed for his poor lunge on the Club captain.
