MK Dons Women prepare to face Cardiff City in their upcoming FAWNL League clash…

20 October 2023

Following their success within the County Cup competition, MK Dons Women will now return their focus back to the league campaign as they prepare for a trip to Wales on Sunday afternoon.

Cardiff City currently place ninth within the FAWNL Southern Premier Division table, eight points behind Charlie Bill’s Women, who occupy a top-five spot.

Prior to their County Cup tie, the Dons had been tested against the league leaders in back-to-back league fixtures, which saw the Milton Keynes side best the top-of-the-table opposition at both times of asking.

The upcoming fixture against Cardiff City will be played at the Ocean Park Arena, Cardiff, CF24 5HF.

THE OPPOSITION
Cardiff have claimed six points from one victory and three stalemates so far this season, which also sees the joint-highest draws gathered so far. The home side’s only league success came through a triumphant 4-0 win over London Bees.

The Bluebirds haven’t seen the best of results in the league, but their FAWNL Cup victory over Plymouth Argyle recently is an indication that Sunday will be no simple matchup.

LAST TIME OUT
MK Dons Women secured their spot in the quarter-final of the FA Berks & Bucks County Cup competition following a 6-0 victory over Long Crendon.

Jacovides opened the Dons’ account before Creaney doubled their lead early within the second-half. Lily Dolling then took advantage of the momentum gained to increase the score-line to 3-0.

Crendon then faced further self-inflicted setbacks when two own-goals scored by the hosts snuffed out any spark of a comeback within the cup tie. Lucy Wood was the final goal scorer in an MK Dons shirt, which capped off a remarkable 6-0 win away from home.

Cardiff City drew 1-1 against Chatham Town, who currently sit one position above last place in the table. This accumulated a three-game unbeaten streak for the Welsh side, who will be determined to continue that run come Sunday afternoon.

Report: Cardiff City 0-2 MK Dons Women

Charlie Bill’s Women see out a flawless October month…

23 October 2023

MK Dons Women see out a flawless run of October results whilst Adekite Fatuga-Dada opened her Dons account within the most-recent league victory over Cardiff City.

The previous FAWNL League clash saw the Dons Women take a trip to Wales as they increased their unbeaten run to six matches, whilst also seeing a flawless run of results across all competitions throughout the month of October.

Cardiff had crafted a three-game lossless streak, however, their run would soon be dismantled by the in-form Milton Keynes side.

FIRST-HALF
It didn’t take long for Charlie Bill’s Women to find the target though striker Adekite Fatuga-Dada, who scored her first goal for the Club since signing terms a month prior.

Fatuga-Dada finished the move for the travelling team within the third minute of the match. The ball moved its way around the squad before Laura Mitchell found the number 27, who converted the chance and dealt a heavy blow to the hosts early on. 0-1

The leaders of the fixture put on a dominant display throughout the first half of action, determined in their approach to continue an impressive unbeaten run that had seen even top-of-the-table opposition thwarted.

Although, despite the lion’s share of control, the score-line remained unchanged whilst the referee blew the half-time whistle.

SECOND-HALF
The sharp start to the second stage of the clash proved that the visitors had started as they meant to go on. Confidence was high around the squad as they edged ever closer to a five-game winning run whilst being unbeaten within their previous six.

However, with the game still very much unfinished, Dons Women continued in their pursuit for the security of a second.

Their efforts to double the advantage were rewarded when Tricia Gould would find the far corner with her precisely-placed finish on the 70-minute mark. 0-2

Another well created attacking move from the team that paid dividends, and was crucial to allowing the breathing space necessary for MK Dons to see out their fifth win of the month.

An outstanding achievement from Charlie Bill and his side to accomplish not only a flawless run of results within October, but to also sustain four clean-sheets within the process.

A feat that cannot be understated with success across all competitions so far, which will certainly be something that Manager Bill will seek to carry into the next month of fixtures.
